September 5, 2026 [Davidson, North Carolina] – On Saturday, September 5, NCYO hosted its first Backstage with NCYO event of the 2026-2027 season at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Davidson. The event’s theme: College Admissions and Prep is especially timely for young musicians beginning to think seriously about what comes after high school.
A Panel of College Music Program Representatives
NCYO brought together representatives from four respected North Carolina institutions, Davidson College, UNC Charlotte, UNC Greensboro, and University of North Carolina School of the Arts, to speak directly with students and families. Each representative offered a window into their school’s approach to music education, giving attendees a well-rounded look at the range of paths available.
Why This Matters for NCYO Musicians
For students everywhere, the path from high school to collegiate study can feel daunting. Events like this BACKSTAGE session help demystify that transition, giving students and parents direct access to admissions and faculty perspectives they might not otherwise encounter until much later in the process. Following their presentations, the representatives opened the floor for a lively Q&A session, fielding questions from students and parents eager to understand the nuts and bolts of the college admission process.
A Sneakpeak at What’s Ahead
This first Backstage with NCYO event of the season set a strong tone for what’s to come. NCYO and Lake Norman area families can look forward to more behind-the-scenes access, expert insight, and practical guidance throughout the 2026–2027 season. Make plans to attend Backstage with NCYO: Summer Festivals on Saturday, November 14.
