Sunday, October 25, 2026 [Cornelius, North Carolina] What an afternoon! Four NCYO ensembles shared the stage for our second Fall 2026 Series Concert. With a program that spanned continents and oceans, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Sinfonia Strings Ensemble
Sinfonia Strings Ensemble opened the show with a splash! Their rendition of Deep Sea Fandango by Deborah Baker Monday took the audience on a thrilling underwater adventure. They then brought even more energy with Todd Salter’s Furioso.
String Quartet
Next to take the stage was the String Quartet, which featured NCYO student ambassadors Annabelle Flowers, violin; Cooper George, violin; Ema Heu, viola; and Sawyer Crawford, cello. Together these students performed two impressive pieces by Joseph Haydn and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
Youth Choir
Full of personality, Youth Choir performed three songs that portrayed the group’s sense of humor and showed off their global singing chops. First, they treated the audience to a delightful piece that outlines exactly all the distractions performers must navigate with Aaron Gage’s punchy A Choir’s Guide to Surviving the Concert. Then, they took the audience to Myanmar with Nyi Nyi Myin’s Mama Wawa, a traditional Burmese children’s rhyme. Youth Choir closed their set with We are the Music Makers by Reginal Wright.
Philharmonic
Philharmonic closed the afternoon in grand style. Amadeus!, arranged by J. Hoffman, celebrated Mozart’s genius, Richard Meyer’s New Chances, New Dances kept the momentum going, and selections from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera, arranged by L. Moore, made for a dramatic finale.
