November 15, 2025 [Huntersville, North Carolina] – NCYO’s Junior Brass Ensemble, Junior Woodwind Ensemble, Sinfonia Strings Ensemble, and Philharmonic took the stage at Ambassador Christian School Saturday afternoon to present their fall repertoires. Each ensemble delivered a thoughtfully curated program designed to highlight their musical growth and range.
Junior Brass Ensemble took the stage first under the direction of Andrew Fierova. They performed two pieces by David Marlatt, The Approaching Coast and The Uprising. They also performed The Builder by David Eastmond, a piece which celebrates the creators and the creative process itself.
Junior Woodwind continued the afternoon with two iconic selections. Jupiter Chorale from The Planets by Gustav Holst and Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone by John Williams.
Sinfonia Strings Ensemble then performed a pair of contrasting works, Baroque Fanfare by Jean Mouret and Viking by Soon Hee Newbold.
Rounding out the afternoon, Philharmonic presented an expressive program with three pieces. First, they performed Riverside Celebration by Brian Balmages followed by Colors of Home by Alan Lee Silva meant to evoke the foothills of the southern California landscape. They closed the program with Themes from the Moldau, a musical journey reminiscent of a flowing river that comes upon a lively garden party.
The concert was a celebration of the dedication, growth, and collaborative spirit of every student involved. For more information about NCYO’s upcoming performances as we enter the holiday season, please visit the tickets section located here on our website.
