Food, Fun and Fellowship at Family Day

May 13, 2025 [Huntersville, North Carolina] – NCYO celebrated the close of another exciting season with a Family Fun Day for all of its students at Lake Forest Church in Huntersville on Tuesday, May 13. There was much to celebrate this season, including significant growth. NCYO expanded its enrollment from 124 students last season to 225 students this season. And with more students comes the welcome need for more faculty members. In August, Stephanie Wilson and Peter Stammer joined the NCYO faculty as percussion and trumpet directors, respectively. Orchestra students gained invaluable experience and made NCYO history performing in its first ever side-by-side concert with UNC Charlotte Orchestra and expanded their repertoire with two more side-by-side performances with both Davidson College Symphony Orchestra and Davidson UMC Chancel Choir.

To mark these and many other achievements, NCYO families came together to enjoy a taco bar, generously provided by Lisa and Eric Bremner, owners of the Iron Thunder restaurants, cookies, and cupcakes. Students especially enjoyed the opportunity to see Eric Boruff, NCYO Director, get pied in the face and then let loose with a water balloon fight. The evening, which provides students, family, and faculty the chance to connect beyond the concert setting, is a much anticipated yearly tradition.
