April 12, 2026, [Huntersville, North Carolina] On Sunday afternoon, NCYO’s Junior Brass Ensemble, Junior Woodwind Ensemble, and Woodwind Ensemble came together to perform for the residents of Symphony Park Senior Living Resort in Huntersville.
For the first time, Junior Brass Ensemble and Junior Woodwind ensemble took the stage together to present a lyrical and moving suite from Jurassic Park. This collaboration highlights the growth they have undergone both as individual musicians and ensembles this season.
Then Woodwind Ensemble presented for pieces that highlighted their range spanning from classical to cinematic as well. To close out the afternoon, Woodwind Ensemble performed an energetic rendition of Cantina Band, a well-known piece from the Star Wars franchise, and a suite from the popular animated movie How to Train Your Dragon.
The musical affair was well-attended by residents and parents alike. Audience members filled the room with every available seat occupied. The performance emphasizes the strong sense of community and camaraderie that NCYO strives to share with the public and our commitment to creating meaningful connections through music and shared experience.
